The Patient

Rachel is a respected GP in the affluent market town of Salisbury where her husband Nathan teaches at an elite prep school. Competent, respected and nearing fifty Rachel is happy or happy enough. One evening a new patient arrives needing emergency treatment. Luc is a French painter married to a wealthy American and has just restored a house in the historic Cathedral Close. The couple have recently arrived but Luc is struggling with a mental disorder and so he goes to the nearest General Practice…to Rachel.

The attraction is instant and the passionate affair- which goes against all the rules in her life – blinds Rachel to everything that’s happening around her. A long-time patient appears to be following her every move, and her daughter Lizzie is hiding a secret. Nathan seems distant. When one of her colleagues is murdered and Luc is arrested for the crime. everything Rachel didn’t know about her life explodes into the open, along with her affair with her patient- a disgrace and a scandal that will have consequences no one could have predicted.
